Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chief Executive Naseeb Khan confirmed Rashid’s Test comeback, stating that the board had waited for him to fully recover from back surgery before considering him for the Test series. “We are confident Rashid will play in the Test series against Zimbabwe. His recovery took time, but now he is fit and ready for the challenge,” Naseeb told Cricbuzz.

Rashid Khan’s Surgery and Recovery Timeline

Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s star spinner, underwent lower back surgery in November last year. Although he quickly recovered, he skipped the New Zealand Tests as a precaution. Previously, the ACB ruled him out of Tests until November, leaving his participation in the Zimbabwe series uncertain. However, with his fitness restored, all eyes will be on Rashid’s red-ball performance against the Chevrons.
