Pollard Takes Over Cape Town Captaincy for MI After Rashid Khan’s Injury

Rashid Khan, the designated captain for MI Cape Town in the SA20, will be sidelined due to an ongoing recovery from a back surgery. Despite being named in Afghanistan’s T20I squad, his participation is doubtful, given his recent absence from both the UAE T20I series and the Big Bash League.

Pollard to Lead MI Cape Town in Rashid’s Absence

Kieron Pollard takes over the captaincy for MI Cape Town in Rashid Khan’s absence, making his SA20 debut. Due to scheduling conflicts, Nicholas Pooran assumes the captaincy for MI Emirates in the ILT20. The leadership transitions add intrigue to both teams’ dynamics in the upcoming tournaments.

Kieron Pollard’s recent participation in the Abu Dhabi T10 league with the New York Strikers highlighted his T20 expertise. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran, Pollard’s CPL teammate, opted out of a West Indies central contract, becoming a free agent. Pooran is scheduled to play in the SA20 before joining MI Emirates for the ILT20’s second season. Additionally, MI Cape Town has secured the services of Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Thushara, who replaces Jofra Archer in the upcoming SA20.

The SA20 is scheduled from January 10 to February 10, overlapping with the ILT20 from January 19 to February 17. These dates conflict with New Zealand’s Super Smash and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
