The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to inaugurate its new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru during its 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM). Scheduled for September 27, the event is expected to feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further elevating its significance.
A source confirmed that the NCA will be unveiled during the AGM, most likely by the Prime Minister. The academy, a state-of-the-art facility, represents a major investment in Indian cricket but also extends its services to top Olympic athletes, including Neeraj Chopra. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah mentioned that the NCA’s resources would be available to elite Indian athletes in the future. He offered Chopra the opportunity to utilize these world-class facilities.
The project, which began in 2022 under Shah’s leadership, has been a long-awaited dream since the land was acquired in 2008. Shah expressed his sense of destiny in completing the NCA.
The AGM will likely see the election of a new BCCI secretary. Jay Shah is set to become ICC Chairman from December 1. Potential candidates include IPL chairman Arun Dhumal and Gujarat Cricket Association’s Anil Patel. BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar and DDCA president Rohan Jaitley are also in the running.
