Punjab Kings (PBKS) are gearing up for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season with renewed optimism, aiming to turn their fortunes around after a forgettable 2023 campaign where they finished eighth on the table with six wins and eight losses.

Captain Shikhar Dhawan exuded confidence and positivity during the franchise’s jersey launch event on Saturday, March 16. Dhawan expressed hope for a fresh start in the upcoming edition, with PBKS opening their 2024 campaign against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, March 23 at the newly constructed PCA Maharaj Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, their new home ground.
Anticipating the change in venue to be auspicious, Dhawan extended heartfelt gratitude to Mohali, acknowledging the support of fans and the efforts of groundsmen over the years. He believes that the new Mullanpur stadium will serve as their lucky charm for the season.
The new stadium in Mullanpur, built by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), boasts world-class facilities, positioning it as a potential international venue. Equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, including an efficient herringbone drainage system that clears water within 25–30 minutes after rain stops, the ground ensures optimal playing conditions. Additionally, the use of sand instead of traditional soil provides stability, albeit with higher maintenance requirements. The stadium features two international-standard dressing rooms with facilities like steam, sauna, and ice baths, along with a world-class gym to support player fitness and recovery.
Overall, PBKS is optimistic about their prospects in the upcoming IPL season, with the new Mullanpur stadium symbolizing a fresh start and promising facilities to support their campaign.
