Pakistan Players Train on Marble Surface in Unique Preparation for Australia T20Is

The Pakistan cricket team is currently touring Australia for an ODI series, but their campaign has started on a challenging note with a narrow two-wicket loss in the opening match. Pakistan’s bowlers impressed on a lively MCG pitch, but their batters struggled against Australia’s pace and bounce, an area they need to address before the second ODI.

Preparing for these challenging conditions, Pakistan’s T20I specialists have already begun adapting with a unique approach back home. Omair bin Yousuf and Usman Khan, selected for the T20I series against Australia, started training on marble surfaces at the National Stadium in Karachi. This practice aims to help them acclimate to the extra bounce they’ll encounter in Australia. The first T20I is scheduled for November 14, giving the duo limited time to prepare.

After a recent training session, Usman Khan explained the rationale behind using marble surfaces, stating, “We quickly realized, especially after watching the first ODI, that adapting to Australia’s high bounce is essential. By practicing on marble surfaces, we can improve our timing on fast pitches and refine key shots like the pull and cut.” This unique technique, he believes, will ultimately enhance their ability to handle pace more effectively.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan ODI team faces a must-win game to keep their series hopes alive. They will take on Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval on November 8, where they aim to put up a stronger batting performance and level the series.
