New Zealand ‘frustrated’ for missing practice before Tests against Sri Lanka and India

Stead highlighted that the cancellation deprived the team of valuable match practice needed to be “match-hardened” for the upcoming Tests. He emphasized that playing against Afghanistan would have been a unique opportunity, particularly to face their distinct bowling styles.

Although the Test wasn’t part of the World Test Championship, Stead noted the significance of the game for the team, as Test cricket holds great value for them. The surface and conditions had looked promising, adding to the disappointment of missing out on the match.

Stead also expressed a desire for more Test matches against Afghanistan, praising their recent white-ball successes and their competitive spirit. New Zealand is focused on reaching the World Test Championship final. They are ready to adapt to different conditions. Five of their remaining eight Tests will take place in Asia.
