Afghanistan has made two key additions to their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, set to take place in Sharjah from November 6. Opening batter Sediqullah Atal and left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad have joined the squad, boosting the team’s depth as they prepare for this important series.

These changes follow injuries to significant players Ibrahim Zadran and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Zadran is recovering from ankle surgery and will miss the series. Atal has been in exceptional form recently, having played six T20 Internationals and shone in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. His selection comes after impressive performances, making him a promising addition to the squad.
Noor Ahmad returns to the team after missing the recent ODI series against South Africa, which will bolster Afghanistan’s spin department, now missing Mujeeb Ur Rahman due to a finger injury.
With these additions, Afghanistan’s ODI squad now consists of 19 players, while also maintaining the same core that achieved a historic 2-1 series victory over South Africa in Sharjah. This victory marks Afghanistan’s first-ever series win against a top-five ICC-ranked team, further demonstrating their growth in international cricket.
This series will be crucial for Afghanistan’s preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Moreover, the team aims to build on their recent success and fine-tune their strategies as they face a formidable Bangladesh side. The fixtures will take place in Sharjah, with the first ODI on November 6. Following that, the second ODI is scheduled for November 9, and the third ODI will occur on November 11.
Afghanistan’s squad includes Hashmatullah Shahidi (C), Rahmat Shah (VC), and notable players like Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi.
