Indian cricket star , sidelined since the ODI World Cup last year, provided an update on his recovery journey, offering fans a glimpse of hope tempered with uncertainty.
Taking to his social media handle, Shami announced that he recently underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon, sharing images from his hospital bed. In his post, he stated, “Just had a successful heel operation on my Achilles tendon! Recovery is going to take some time, but looking forward to getting back on my feet.”

Sidelined due to injury since the World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad, the 33-year-old secured 24 wickets during India’s campaign.
Despite being the top wicket-taker in the World Cup, Shami has been absent from action, missing the home T20I series against Australia, the entire South Africa tour, the Afghanistan series, and the ongoing home series against England.

Unfortunately, his recovery timeline casts doubt on his availability for the upcoming IPL 2024 season, and there are concerns that he may not recuperate in time for the T20 World Cup scheduled for June.
