India’s Frustration Mounts as Ollie Robinson Survives LBW Appeal Amid Lack of DRS Referrals

Missed Review Leaves India Frustrated Despite Big Opportunity Against Robinson

The Indian cricket team faced a moment of frustration as English tailender Ollie Robinson escaped a clear LBW dismissal due to depleted DRS referrals during a crucial phase of the fourth Test.

India dominated England on Day 1 of the Ranchi Test, with debutant Akashdeep wreaking havoc with the ball, dismantling the top order and putting India in a commanding position by the end of the first session.

Despite the spinners capitalizing on the momentum, Joe Root’s resilient partnership with wicket-keeper Ben Foakes steered England to a respectable first-innings total. Mohammad Siraj managed to break the partnership, but Root fought on valiantly with the tail.

In a pivotal moment, Ravindra Jadeja created an opportunity to dismiss Ollie Robinson in the final hour of play on Day 1. However, Robinson survived a loud LBW appeal as umpire Kumar Dharmasena ruled in favor of the batter despite Jadeja’s insistence that the ball had struck the pad first.

India’s frustration was compounded by the lack of available DRS referrals, with Rohit Sharma exhausting three reviews earlier in the game. Replays later revealed that the ball would have hit the off-stump, leaving India to rue the missed opportunity as Robinson remained at the crease.

Visible frustration was evident among the Indian fielders, with skipper Rohit Sharma expressing his disappointment.

Nevertheless, Rohit Sharma must rally his team to break the resistance of centurion Joe Root before it’s too late.
