India’s cricketer and Karnataka captain, Mayank Agarwal, faced a health scare during a flight from Agartala to New Delhi. The incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E 5177, where Agarwal, feeling thirsty, took a sip from a bottle assumed to contain water. However, he experienced a burning sensation, leading to discomfort.

Despite rinsing his mouth in the washroom, Agarwal’s condition worsened with his tongue thickening and face reddening. The flight returned to the bay, and Agarwal was immediately deplaned and taken to a hospital in Agartala. The 32-year-old cricketer is reported to be out of danger but is under observation.
The incident is suspected to be related to an unidentified liquid, possibly a cleaning agent, left in a water bottle. An FIR has been filed by Ramesh Rao, the Karnataka team manager, on behalf of Agarwal. The bottle has been sent for forensic examination by Agartala police.
ILS Hospital, where Mayank Agarwal is receiving treatment, stated that he was admitted due to oral irritation and swelling on his lips. The cricketer is clinically stable, and his condition is being closely monitored. If declared fit to travel, Agarwal is expected to return to the city for further treatment. However, he will miss the upcoming match against Railways in Surat on Friday. Manish Pandey, recovering from an injury, is set to join the team on Wednesday.
