VVS Laxman, currently heading the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, reportedly does not want to renew his contract. In a new development, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are keen on bringing Laxman into their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2025.

According to a report by TOI, LSG wants VVS Laxman on board before the mega-auction. Laxman’s tenure with the NCA will conclude in September. The report also mentioned that Laxman was the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) first choice to replace Rahul Dravid as Team India’s head coach. However, VVS Laxman declined the offer due to his reluctance to travel extensively with the team. Eventually, the BCCI appointed Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach.
Furthermore, speculation suggests that former India batting coach Vikram Rathour, who worked under Dravid, will likely succeed VVS Laxman at the NCA if Laxman decides not to renew his contract.
Although the TOI report indicated that LSG had informal talks with VVS Laxman, no concrete decisions have been made yet. With a mega-auction scheduled before IPL 2025, teams expect significant changes in their line-ups and coaching staff.
Additionally, another media report suggested that Rishabh Pant might join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) if Delhi Capitals (DC) choose not to retain him before the auction, adding another layer of excitement and speculation ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
