Former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener has joined the Lucknow Super Giants as an assistant coach for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Klusener, who also oversees the Super Giants’ SA20 affiliate team, Durban’s Super Giants, will join head coach Justin Langer and fellow assistant coach S Sriram in the coaching staff.

Klusener’s return to the IPL coaching scene comes after his previous stint as an assistant to Shaun Pollock at the Mumbai Indians in the early stages of the tournament. Klusener brings with him a wealth of coaching experience, having guided the Guyana Amazon Warriors to their first CPL title last year, where he worked alongside West Indies sensation Shamar Joseph, who has since joined the Super Giants.
Klusener has held coaching positions with various teams, including head coach of Afghanistan and batting coach for South Africa and Zimbabwe. He has also contributed to the Indian domestic circuit with his coaching stint at Tripura.
Having represented South Africa in 49 Tests and 171 ODIs between 1996 and 2004, Klusener brings a deep understanding of the game to his coaching role. The Super Giants will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 24th.
