In a dominant display, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match number 10 of the IPL 2024 season. This victory marks a significant turning point in the season, as it’s the first time a visiting team has emerged victorious, snapping a streak of nine consecutive wins for the home teams. The streak began with RCB’s defeat in the IPL 2024 opener on March 22nd in Chennai.
KKR’s triumph at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 29th put an end to the remarkable home advantage streak witnessed in the opening week of IPL 2024. Moreover, led by captain Shreyas Iyer, KKR showcased a clinical run-chase, spearheaded by Venkatesh Iyer’s explosive half-century (50 runs) off just 30 balls. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine built a solid foundation with their opening partnership, adding 86 runs in less than seven overs, setting the stage for KKR’s convincing victory.
RCB, batting first, posted a competitive total of 182-6. Virat Kohli’s composed knock of 83 runs and a rapid-fire cameo of 20 runs off eight balls from Dinesh Karthik were the highlights of their innings. Contributions from Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell further bolstered RCB’s batting performance.
With this win, KKR has shifted the momentum in their favor as the IPL 2024 season progresses. Moreover, the action continues with match number 11 between Punjab Kings and hosts Lucknow Super Giants scheduled to take place in Lucknow on March 30.
