In a strategic move, South Africa’s proficient left-arm spinner, Keshav Maharaj, has officially inked a deal with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Fortune Barishal. Maharaj is poised to make his debut on February 14, coinciding with South Africa’s challenging Test series against New Zealand. The national squad, facing a 0-1 deficit, comprises largely inexperienced players due to the participation of regulars in the just-concluded SA20.
Maharaj’s commitment to Fortune Barishal aligns seamlessly with Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) policy, which necessitates a week of acclimatization for players. Importantly, Maharaj’s availability for the Hamilton Test conforms to CSA guidelines, given that he concludes his SA20 campaign on February 10.
