Ireland Batter Penalized for Code of Conduct Violation in Test Against Zimbabwe

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Ireland batter Harry Tector for breaching the Code of Conduct during the recently concluded Test match against Zimbabwe. Tector received a fine of 15% of his match fee and one demerit point for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during Ireland’s second innings.

The incident occurred in the sixth over when Tector was caught behind. He visibly displayed displeasure and delayed leaving the field. Tector accepted the penalty, thereby avoiding a formal hearing. Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the sanction, which falls under Level 1 breaches. Such breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee.

Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first, bundling out Zimbabwe for 210 runs and taking a 40-run lead in the first innings.
