Mumbai Indians End Delhi Capitals’ Winning Streak in IPL 2025 Thriller

Mumbai Indians (MI) pulled off a stunning 12-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in a thrilling IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, ending DC’s unbeaten four-match streak. Chasing 206, DC were powered by a brilliant 40-ball 89 from Karun Nair, but Karn Sharma’s three-wicket spell and a dramatic hat-trick of run-outs in the penultimate over turned the game MI’s way.

Nair, making a comeback after three years, attacked Jasprit Bumrah early, smashing 28 off nine balls in the powerplay. His 22-ball fifty had DC on course until Mitchell Santner bowled a magical delivery to castle him. Jasprit Bumrah then removed Axar Patel, and DC began to wobble.

A crucial turning point came in the 14th over with the use of the new ball due to dew. Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul fell cheaply as MI wrestled back momentum. Santner returned to deceive Vipraj Nigam, just as DC seemed to fight back through Ashutosh Sharma.

With 15 needed off 8 balls, Ashutosh was run out attempting a second run, followed by Kuldeep Yadav and Mohit Sharma being run out on consecutive deliveries to end the innings at 193.

Earlier, MI posted 205 for 5, thanks to Tilak Varma’s steady 59 and Naman Dhir’s explosive 38 off 17 balls. The duo added 60 off 33 deliveries after a middle-order wobble. Despite DC’s wrist-spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam taking four wickets between them, MI’s late flourish proved decisive.

This win lifted MI to two wins from six games and handed DC their first loss of the season in heartbreaking fashion, shaking up the IPL 2025 standings.
