Great News for Fans: Delhi Metro to Run Late for DC’s IPL Home Matches

In a welcome move for cricket fans, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced extended services on match days at the Arun Jaitley Stadium during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. This initiative aims to ensure smooth travel for spectators attending Delhi Capitals’ home matches and ease congestion for regular commuters.

The DMRC will run 76 additional train trips on key match days — April 13, 16, 27, 29, and May 11. These services will operate across all lines, including the Airport Express Line, with last train timings extended by 1–2 hours. The stadium, located near the Delhi Gate and ITO stations on the Violet Line (Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh corridor), is expected to witness heavy footfall, prompting the need for extended metro operations.

On April 11, the DMRC announced via its official social media handles that it would revise last train timings to assist spectators attending IPL T20 matches at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

They also mentioned that to manage the expected post-match rush at nearby Metro stations, 76 additional train trips will be operated. The last train timings will be extended by 1–2 hours, ensuring spectators can travel home conveniently via the Metro.

This transport upgrade coincides with Delhi Capitals’ impressive start to IPL 2025. Led by Axar Patel, the team is unbeaten in four games and currently sits atop the points table. With key matches ahead, including a clash against the underperforming Mumbai Indians, a large crowd is expected—making DMRC’s decision both timely and impactful.
