The World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle will begin after the current cycle’s final at Lord’s in June. India will kick off their campaign with a five-match Test series against England, scheduled from June 20 to August 4, 2025. The first Test will start at Headingley, Leeds, just days after the WTC final.
The ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle has its finalists—Australia and South Africa. The Proteas booked their spot by defeating Pakistan, while Australia, the defending champions, secured their place by winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. The two teams will now face off in the WTC final from June 11-15 at Lord’s. Australia aims to retain their title, while South Africa seeks their first-ever WTC crown after narrowly missing out on the T20 World Cup 2024.
India, who failed to reach their third consecutive WTC final, will begin their new cycle with the England tour in 2025. Apart from England, India will tour New Zealand and Sri Lanka. At home, they will host Australia, West Indies, and South Africa during the 2025-27 cycle.
Australia’s WTC campaign will feature a home Ashes series against England. They will also tour India, South Africa, and the West Indies to maximize their points tally. The upcoming cycle promises intense competition, with teams looking to secure early victories.
The World Test Championship 2025 final between Australia and South Africa will be a key event. South Africa hopes to break their ICC trophy drought, while Australia, led by Pat Cummins, aims to maintain their dominance. Both teams will be keen to claim the prestigious title at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
