In the semi-final clash of the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, India faced South Africa at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. Opting to bat first, South Africa posted a competitive total of 244 for 7, with notable contributions from Lhuan-dre Pretorius (76) and Richard Seletswane (64).
India faced a challenging start, losing four wickets for just 32 runs. However, a remarkable partnership between Sachin Dhas (96) and captain Uday Saharan (81) turned the game around. Their resilience nullified the threat posed by South Africa’s bowlers, Kwena Mapheka and Tristan Luus, who both claimed three wickets each.
Ultimately, India emerged victorious, securing a thrilling two-wicket win and booking their spot in the final of the 2024 U19 World Cup. Raj Limbani (3/60), Musheer Khan (2/43), Naman Tiwari (1/52), and Saumy Pandey (1/38) played pivotal roles in restricting South Africa’s total and shared the spoils for India in a hard-fought encounter.
