India extended their T20I series-winning streak to ten with a hard-fought 30-run victory over South Africa after successfully defending a daunting target of 231, surviving several tense moments on a high-scoring night.

Batting first, India were powered by outstanding innings from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya. After a blazing start from Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, who added 63 in just 5.3 overs, India briefly lost momentum in the middle overs. Samson’s elegant stay ended early, and Suryakumar Yadav once again failed to convert his start, allowing South Africa to pull things back.
The match turned decisively when Hardik Pandya walked in. He immediately put the bowlers under pressure, smashing boundaries from the outset and racing to one of the quickest T20I fifties by an Indian. Tilak Varma, composed yet aggressive, matched Hardik stroke for stroke. The pair added 105 runs in just over seven overs, completely changing the complexion of the innings. Tilak finished with a classy 73 off 42 balls, while Hardik’s brutal 63 off 25 ensured India crossed the 230 mark. Shivam Dube’s late cameo kept the pressure firmly on South Africa.
In reply, South Africa looked firmly in control early. Quinton de Kock, playing his 100th T20I, was at his fluent best, while Dewald Brevis provided explosive support as the visitors raced to 118 for 1 in the first ten overs under heavy dew. With the chase appearing comfortable, India desperately needed a breakthrough.
That moment arrived when the ball was changed, and reminded everyone of Jasprit Bumrah’s value. He removed de Kock with a sharp return catch, instantly swinging momentum India’s way. Hardik then dismissed Brevis with a well-planned slower bouncer, triggering a collapse. Varun Chakravarthy struck twice in consecutive deliveries, removing Aiden Markram and Donovan Ferreira, and suddenly South Africa were scrambling.
Marco Jansen briefly threatened with successive sixes late in the chase, but Bumrah returned to shut the door, finishing with exceptional figures of 2 for 17 in a match where over 430 runs were scored. Varun ended with four wickets despite an expensive spell.
In the end, India’s late batting surge and Bumrah’s calm brilliance under pressure proved decisive, sealing both the match and the series.
