The Indian team management opted for an aggressive approach after assessing the Green Park surface on Monday morning, determined to seek a result in the second Test against Bangladesh. Following nearly three days lost to rain and a soggy outfield, India aimed to demonstrate “positive intent” in their play.

Morne Morkel, the newly appointed bowling coach, emphasized the importance of this mindset, stating, “We started this morning to show that positive intent was going to be key. With two days left in the match and extended sessions, there’s still a lot of cricket to be played.”
Morkel also praised captain Rohit Sharma for leading by example, as India quickly crossed the 50-run mark within the first three overs. “It was a massive call, but it was a collective buy-in from the batting group. Rohit has done it so many times, and today he hit a six on the first ball, showing great intent,” Morkel remarked.
In the first innings, India’s fast bowlers—Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep—were effective, claiming seven wickets to dismiss Bangladesh for 233 runs. Morkel noted, “How the boys bowled up front was incredible. If we weren’t taking wickets, they weren’t going anywhere. We created pressure, and that led to wickets, ultimately bowling them out.” This performance reflected India’s commitment to an aggressive game strategy aimed at achieving victory.
