After crushing Uganda by a massive margin, the West Indies’ T20 World Cup caravan continues as they take on New Zealand in a crucial group stage match on June 13 at the Brian Lara Stadium.

The co-hosts, West Indies, began their World Cup campaign with a sluggish win over Papua New Guinea and continued their winning streak with a dominant performance against Uganda. However, their toughest challenge yet comes against the Kiwis, who recently suffered an embarrassing defeat to Afghanistan.
Against Uganda, everything clicked for the Windies. The batters performed well on a sluggish surface, and the bowlers exceeded expectations, bundling out the opposition for a mere 39 runs. However, they will need to make one key change to strengthen the squad against a formidable New Zealand bowling attack.
The Windies have an abundance of all-rounders in their playing XI, but they might be tempted to include Shimron Hetmyer in place of Sherfane Rutherford. Given the challenge of facing New Zealand’s class bowling attack, the Windies will need a solid middle-order player to tackle the bowlers, and Hetmyer could be the answer.
Other than this potential change, the team management is likely to stick with the same squad that thrashed Uganda.
West Indies’ probable XI for NZ clash:
Brandon King, Johnson Charles, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell (c), Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Gudukesh Motie
