The critics came down heavily on the players, but all-rounders Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed had to bear extra blame as they failed to seal the win for their side. Notably, Imad, who had returned to the Pakistani side for the World Cup, scored 15 (23), and his strokeplay came under the scanner after the match.

Cricket pundits questioned his place in the side, as he even missed the opening match against the USA because of injury. In the latest events, former Pakistan chief selector Muhammad Wasim accused Wasim of hiding his injury. Wasim alleged that Imad is suffering from a long-standing knee injury and has told the PCB that it is just a rib injury.

“A lot of revelations will come out. They won’t stay hidden. If you’re claiming a rib injury, and it’s actually a knee injury… It’s a long-standing injury that you can see while running between the wickets, while bowling, and while fielding,” he said speaking to Samaa TV.
