Francis Xavier Minz, a security guard at the Birsa Munda International Airport in Ranchi, closely observed Team India’s arrival ahead of the fourth Test against England. As the Indian cricketers passed by him, Francis Xavier expressed the hope that his son, Robin Minz, would one day be part of such a team. Robin recently became a multi-millionaire after Gujarat Titans acquired him for Rs 3.60 crore in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Despite his son’s significant IPL contract, Francis Xavier emphasized that there is still a long way to go for Robin to receive a call-up to the Indian team. Robin is notably the first tribal cricketer to secure an IPL contract.
Francis Xavier, who serves as a security guard, highlighted the nature of his job and the importance of staying vigilant. He mentioned that despite the financial security brought by his son’s IPL contract, he cannot afford to be lax in his duties.
Having served in the army for nearly two decades, Francis Xavier has no plans to quit his job. He stressed the importance of earning for oneself and mentioned that he doesn’t get sleep if he hasn’t earned something.
While the financial security has increased for the family, Francis Xavier stated that they still live in the same house and there hasn’t been any significant change in their lifestyle. Robin also remains grounded and focused on working hard.
Francis Xavier also shared insights into MS Dhoni’s role in his son’s cricketing journey. He revealed that Dhoni promised him that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would pick Robin if no other team bid for him at the IPL auction.
The story highlights the pride and dedication of a father, balancing his job as a security guard while celebrating his son’s success in cricket.
