Virender Sehwag, a legendary name in Indian cricket, transformed how openers approach Test matches. Although he is now retired, his son, Aaryavir, is making strides in professional cricket. Aaryavir recently debuted for Delhi’s U19 team in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

On October 4, Aaryavir played against Manipur at the SLIMS Cricket Ground in Pondicherry. Opening the innings, he scored an impressive 49 runs off 64 balls, featuring six fours and a six. Known for his aggressive strokeplay, Aaryavir previously made headlines with a remarkable 183 runs off 136 balls in a DDCA trial match. At just 16, he was also selected for Delhi’s U16 squad for the Vijay Merchant Trophy.
Delhi started their campaign in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy on a high note, chasing down Manipur’s target of 170 runs in just 26 overs. Led by captain Pranav Pant, who scored 75 off 45 balls, the team showcased a solid performance. For Manipur, Ali Karim top-scored with 56 runs, providing some resistance. Laxman led Delhi’s bowling attack, taking three wickets, while Divansh Rawat and Aman Chaudhary chipped in with two wickets each.
Delhi, now in Group D, will face Haryana next on October 6. Haryana also won their opening match, making the upcoming clash even more intriguing as Aaryavir looks to continue his impressive start in the tournament.
