Mushfiqur Rahim has made history by becoming the first Bangladesh batter to score 6000 runs in Test cricket. The veteran cricketer achieved this significant milestone during Bangladesh’s ongoing Test match against South Africa at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Mushfiqur Rahim Shines with a Landmark Innings

Rahim had a challenging start to the Test series against South Africa. In the first innings, South African pacer Kagiso Rabada dismissed him for a mere 11 runs with a brilliant delivery. Batting at number five, Rahim couldn’t resist Rabada’s pace and was bowled, leaving Bangladesh in a difficult position.
However, Mushfiqur responded in style in the second innings. With the Proteas posting a competitive total of 308, the Bangladesh top-order faltered, losing Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque in quick succession. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also fell for 23, leaving Bangladesh in trouble.
At this crucial juncture, Mushfiqur joined Mahmudul Hasan Joy and played a vital counter-attacking knock. He put pressure on the South African bowlers, hitting three classy boundaries in his unbeaten 31 off 26 balls. In the process, Rahim reached the 6000-run milestone in Test cricket, becoming the first Bangladesh player to do so.
Bangladesh’s Top Test Run-Scorers
Mushfiqur Rahim leads the list of Bangladesh’s top Test run-scorers with 6003* runs from 172 innings, followed by Tamim Iqbal with 5134 runs and Shakib Al Hasan with 4609 runs.
South Africa Holds the Upper Hand in Mirpur Test
South Africa took control of the match with a solid first-innings total of 308, led by Kyle Verreynne’s superb century. Contributions from Wiaan Mulder, Dane Piedt, Tony de Zorzi, and Ryan Rickelton ensured a challenging target for Bangladesh. In reply, Bangladesh struggled early but ended the day on 101 for 3, with Mushfiqur and Mahmudul Hasan Joy stabilizing the innings with an unbeaten partnership.
