While there were hopes that Shami might return for the two-match Test series starting on September 19, recent reports suggest he won’t be fit in time. Instead, Shami is eyeing a comeback in the New Zealand series, scheduled from October 16 to November 5.

Before rejoining the Indian squad, Mohammed Shami plans to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. Shami is likely to play for Bengal against Uttar Pradesh on October 11, aiding his recovery. He trained recently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) alongside Nepalese players using the same facilities. This match will be crucial for Shami’s return to top form before rejoining the Indian team.
