Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh has revealed that he is unlikely to bowl in the upcoming T20I series against England, which starts today. There has been speculation about Marsh’s fitness, but the team management is cautious and wants to avoid any risk.

Marsh has struggled with hamstring issues since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, and he has not bowled for the Australian team since. He also did not bowl during the recent T20 World Cup. With a squad full of all-rounders, Marsh can focus solely on his batting, allowing him to take a step back from his bowling duties for now.
In a press conference in Southampton, Marsh explained, “I’m just building up. I don’t bowl too much, and we’re fortunate to have plenty of bowling options in our team. My bowling’s on hold for now; we’ll see if I bowl as the series progresses. We have a lot of options, so it’s not a concern right now.”
For this T20I series, Australia has fielded a relatively inexperienced squad, resting regular ODI captain Pat Cummins and senior pacer Mitch Starc to manage their workloads. The team’s depth in all-rounders provides flexibility, reducing the need for Marsh to bowl.
