Virat Kohli has surpassed MS Dhoni to claim the record for the second-most international matches played by an Indian cricketer, making him the new Most Capped Player after Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli achieved this milestone during the ongoing Test against New Zealand, marking his 536th international appearance for Team India.

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, previously held the record with 535 international matches across all formats. Known for his leadership and finishing skills, Dhoni captained India to several major trophies, including the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
Kohli has delivered exceptional performances and set numerous records throughout his international cricket journey. Since his debut in 2008, he has established himself as one of the greatest batsmen of the modern era, accumulating over 25,000 runs across formats. His consistency and passion have been key to India’s success in recent years, making him a pivotal figure in the team.
While Kohli has now overtaken Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar still holds the top spot as India’s Most Capped Player, with 664 international matches—a record that may stand for years to come. Kohli’s latest achievement adds to his legacy as one of India’s most accomplished cricketers, continuing to inspire the next generation of players.
