Jaker Ali has been ruled out of Bangladesh’s second Test against South Africa due to a concussion. Mahidul Islam Ankon has been named as his replacement. Jaker sustained the concussion while batting during practice at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday.

Bangladesh’s physio, Bayjedul Islam Khan, stated, “Jaker Ali suffered a concussion while batting in practice yesterday. He has a history of concussions and is still showing symptoms. Given his previous record, recovery may take some time. Based on the clinical findings, he has been ruled out of the second Test.”
Jaker made an impressive start to his Test career, scoring fifty in his debut during the second innings of the first Test against South Africa. In addition to his Test experience, he has played 19 T20 Internationals since making his debut earlier this year.
In his place, Mahidul will join the squad for the first time. He has shown promise in domestic cricket, playing primarily for Dhaka Division, where he has scored three centuries. Recently, he made headlines by scoring 118 against Sylhet Division last week. Mahidul also played one game for Bangladesh A against Pakistan A in August.
Additionally, pace bowler Khaled Ahmed has been called up to replace Taskin Ahmed, further reshaping the squad as they prepare for the second Test.
