Former West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has concluded his celebrated tenure with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he secured four IPL titles in various roles. He will join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor starting from the 2025 season.

ESPNcricinfo reports that Dwayne Bravo recently met KKR CEO Venky Mysore during the CPL and agreed to a long-term contract. In addition to his role with KKR, Bravo will oversee all franchises under the Knight Riders banner in T20 leagues, including Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC), and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20).
“DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development,” Mysore said. “His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players.”
As Dwayne Bravo turns 41 in October, he steps in for Gautam Gambhir, who became India’s head coach after leading KKR to their third IPL title in 2024. Bravo’s appointment comes on the heels of his retirement from all cricket. KKR also parted ways with assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate, who joined India’s support staff.
Dwayne Bravo expressed enthusiasm about joining KKR, stating, “Having played for and against the Knight Riders, I respect how they operate. The owners’ passion and the family-like environment make it special.”
This mentor role marks Bravo’s second coaching position in the IPL. After retiring as a player in 2022, he took on the role of bowling coach for CSK, where he significantly contributed to their title win in 2023. Furthermore, known for his tactical acumen, Bravo remains a respected figure in T20 cricket, with over 500 matches to his name.
