David Warner, one of the finest overseas players in IPL history, has left an indelible mark with his electrifying batting and immense stardom. The Australian opener, who led SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to their maiden IPL title in 2016, holds the record for the most half-centuries in the league’s history.

Playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, the 38-year-old surprisingly went unsold in the recent mega-auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the shuffle, Warner found no takers this time, with franchises appearing to move on from the veteran. Unless called up as an injury replacement, Warner is unlikely to feature in IPL 2025, ending a remarkable IPL career spanning 15 years with Delhi Capitals and SRH.
In the 2022 mega-auction, Warner was sold to the Capitals for INR 6.25 crore after a fallout with SRH in 2021, where he had earned INR 12.50 crore since 2019. Throughout his IPL journey, Warner has delivered incredible performances, amassing 6,565 runs in 184 matches at an average of 40.52 and a strike rate near 140. He boasts four centuries and an astounding 66 fifty-plus scores, surpassing Virat Kohli’s 63.
Warner’s best season came in 2016, scoring 848 runs in 17 matches, including nine half-centuries, driving SRH to their maiden title. Despite his decline in recent seasons, Warner’s legacy as one of IPL’s greatest batters remains unmatched.
