Rising CSK star Andre Siddarth will unfortunately miss the upcoming Under-19 World Cup after narrowly missing the age cut-off by just three days. Siddarth, born on August 28, 2006, misses the eligibility requirement set at September 1, 2006. As a result, his dream of representing India in the prestigious tournament has ended.
Siddarth quickly made a name for himself in the domestic circuit for Tamil Nadu, impressing with his ability to tackle quality bowling attacks. His performances earned him a spot in the India squad for the Under-19 Asia Cup. Although he struggled in the opening match against Pakistan, scoring just 15 runs, he showcased his batting prowess with a composed 35 against Japan. In the ongoing Ranji Trophy, Siddarth has further underlined his talent, scoring 372 runs in six matches, including four half-centuries.
Despite his setback in the U-19 World Cup, CSK recognized Siddarth’s talent and picked him for ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2025 auction. The Tamil Nadu batter’s experience at Chepauk, a venue he knows well, made him a valuable acquisition for CSK. The franchise is also looking to groom Siddarth for the future, with their veteran players expected to retire soon. The upcoming IPL season offers Siddarth the perfect opportunity to develop and potentially make an impact for CSK in the coming years.
