Abrar Ahmed Joins Abdul Qadir in Elite List with 4-Wicket Haul on ODI Debut Against Zimbabwe

After a surprising defeat in the first ODI against Zimbabwe, Pakistan bounced back strongly to level the series with a dominant 10-wicket win in the second match at Bulawayo. Pakistan’s response was led by Saim Ayub, who played a blistering knock, scoring 113 off just 62 balls. His 53-ball century was the joint third-fastest ODI ton by a Pakistani, as Pakistan chased down Zimbabwe’s modest total of 146 in just 19 overs.

While Ayub stole the spotlight with his powerful batting performance, Abrar Ahmed’s exceptional bowling put Pakistan in a commanding position. Making his ODI debut, the left-arm spinner took 4 wickets for just 33 runs, dismissing Zimbabwe for a mere 145. His stunning debut performance saw him join an elite list of Pakistani bowlers who have taken 4 wickets on ODI debut, including legends like Abdul Qadir, Zakir Khan, and Sarfaraz Nawaz.

Abrar’s figures of 4/33 are the second-best on debut for a Pakistani bowler, behind only Zakir Khan’s 4/19 against New Zealand in 1984. This remarkable achievement highlighted his immediate impact in the match, as Pakistan’s bowlers dismantled Zimbabwe with ease.

The win not only restored confidence in the Pakistani camp but also showcased the potential of emerging stars like Ayub and Abrar. Moreover, with the series levelled, Pakistan will be looking to continue their strong form in the third ODI. As a result, they head into the decider with renewed optimism.
