The much-anticipated meeting regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights has been postponed again. The emergency meeting between the PCB, BCCI, and ICC, originally scheduled for Thursday, December 5, has been canceled. According to RevSportz, the talks between the BCCI and PCB are now expected to take place on December 7, although the date is not yet confirmed.
Recent reports indicate that the PCB has shown willingness to consider a dual-nation model for the Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI, citing security concerns, has been advocating for a hybrid model that would allow some matches to be held outside Pakistan. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly agreed to this proposal under certain conditions. One key demand is that a similar hybrid model be applied to all events hosted by India until 2031, ensuring Pakistan’s participation in neutral venues. Additionally, the PCB has requested that all of Pakistan’s matches in the Champions Trophy be played on home soil, while Dubai is expected to host five matches, including three of India’s group-stage fixtures as well as the semi-finals and final.
Moreover, the PCB has suggested a tri-series between India, Pakistan, and a third nation at a neutral venue, but this proposal is likely to be rejected by both the BCCI and the ICC. On a positive note, the ICC is open to compensating for relocating the five matches, with little opposition expected to this aspect of the negotiations. The talks continue as both boards work toward a resolution for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
