On August 15, BCB officials confirmed that Hassan is prepared to step down to help facilitate changes within the board. According to reports, Hassan and his wife have been hiding in London since the protests began, and other board members linked to the former Prime Minister are also in hiding. A BCB director stated that Hassan, known as Papon bhai, is willing to cooperate with the government and resign to support reform efforts.

The current situation has prompted significant debate within the Bangladeshi sports community, with calls for Hassan and his panel to step down. A meeting of remaining board directors in Dhaka on August 14 discussed their next steps amidst growing scrutiny.

These developments could lead to major changes within the BCB, particularly if Hassan follows through with his resignation offer. Amidst the crisis, a key question is whether Bangladesh will host the Women’s T20 World Cup. The BCB has sought support from India to host the tournament, but Jay Shah has rejected this proposal.
