Bangladesh Pacer Prefers IPL Over Playing for Country, Says Mustafizur

Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been excelling during his time with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, leading the team’s bowling attack with an impressive tally of 11 wickets. However, his friend and fellow national teammate, Shoriful Islam, has sparked controversy with his comments suggesting Mustafizur finds more enjoyment playing in the IPL compared to representing the Bangladesh team.

Bangladesh Pacer Prefers IPL Over Playing for Country, Says Mustafizur

“I think Mustafizur enjoys his time in the IPL more than playing for the Bangladesh team. Shoriful Islam remarked, “The IPL provides a less pressurized environment, whereas representing Bangladesh carries high expectations and immense pressure, especially if performance standards are not met.”

Shoriful’s observation highlights a notable contrast in Mustafizur Rahman’s bowling form. He suggests that the relatively lower stress levels in the IPL might be contributing to Mustafizur’s better performance in the tournament, particularly when compared to his recent struggles while playing for the national team.

Despite his ongoing IPL commitments, Mustafizur Rahman will return to Bangladesh after CSK’s match against Punjab on May 1st to fulfill his national duty. The Bangladesh cricket team will host Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series before embarking on tours to the USA and West Indies for bilateral matches, culminating in the much-anticipated T20 World Cup 2024.

Can Mustafizur Rahman replicate his IPL form for Bangladesh and lead his national team to success? Only time will tell. This situation has sparked discussions about the pressure players face in international cricket compared to franchise leagues like the IPL.
