Bangladesh’s right to host the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is under threat due to ongoing political instability. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is exploring alternative venues, with the UAE emerging as a leading contender after India declined the offer. The ICC was initially set to make a decision by August 15, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requested additional time. They are currently negotiating with the Army Chief to ensure adequate security for the tournament. Zimbabwe has also shown interest in hosting, but the ICC favors a location with a similar time zone to Bangladesh. The UAE, equipped with world-class facilities, is expected to be chosen.

India turned down the ICC’s proposal to host the event due to monsoon season concerns. Jay Shah also opposed hosting two consecutive women’s tournaments, fearing it might send a negative message.
The Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 3, with the final set for October 20. The tournament will feature ten teams, with Australia entering as the defending champions.
