The captains’ conference for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 took place on Thursday, April 10, just a day before the tournament’s much-anticipated launch. Leading cricketers including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Saud Shakeel gathered for the event. Karachi Kings were represented by vice-captain Hasan Ali, stepping in for regular skipper David Warner, who missed the ceremony to take part in an intra-squad match.
The highlight of the conference was a photo opportunity where all six team representatives posed with the PSL 2025 trophy, officially dubbed the “Luminara Trophy.” The silverware was showcased across PSL’s social media platforms in a post that celebrated the unity and excitement surrounding the new season.
This year’s PSL marks the tenth edition of the T20 league. The tournament will begin on Friday, April 11, with the opening match between Lahore Qalandars and defending champions Islamabad United at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. A double-header is scheduled for the next day, April 12, featuring games in Rawalpindi and at the National Stadium in Karachi.
All six franchises will compete in a double round-robin format, with each team playing every other side twice before moving on to the playoffs and final. The league stage will run until mid-May, with the final scheduled for May 18.
The presence of top Pakistani stars and the return of international names have built great anticipation around PSL 2025. As the captains posed with the trophy, they signaled the start of what promises to be an action-packed season of competitive cricket.
