Azhar Mahmood, who recently served as the bowling coach for Islamabad United during their successful campaign in PSL 2024, will now take on the role of head coach for the national team. Team manager Wahab Riaz, batting coach Mohammad Yousuf, and spin bowling coach Saeed Ajmal will support him.

Having previously served as Pakistan’s bowling coach from 2016 to 2019, Azhar Mahmood brings a wealth of experience to the role. As a player, he represented Pakistan in 143 ODIs and 21 Test matches, amassing 2,421 runs and 162 wickets across both formats.

Furthermore, the PCB selection committee announced that it will unveil Pakistan’s entire squad for the T20I series against New Zealand on April 9. The selection committee has been engaging with Pakistani cricketers to discuss team selection policies and rotation strategies, aiming to provide opportunities for emerging talents.

Ahead of the upcoming T20 international season, Pakistani players participated in a physical training camp in Kakul until recently, gearing up for five home matches against New Zealand and away series against Ireland and England. These fixtures serve as the team’s final preparations before the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled for June.
