College basketball enthusiasts can mark their calendars for an exciting event as the LSU Women’s Basketball team prepares to hit the court for their first exhibition game on Thursday, October 24.
The Tigers will take on Xavier University of Louisiana in this highly anticipated matchup, which will serve as the first of two exhibition games scheduled for the team. Both games are free for fans, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. at Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC).
Following the clash with Xavier, LSU will face LSU-Alexandria next Wednesday, October 30, for their final exhibition before the regular season begins. According to LSU Athletics, they have scheduled the official season opener for November 4 against Eastern Kentucky at PMAC. Fans eager to support the Tigers can find a limited number of season tickets still available, and single-game tickets will go on sale starting Friday.
The Tigers return a strong core from last year’s Elite Eight squad, featuring three starters: Flau’Jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow, and Mikaylah Williams. Additional key returners, including Sa’Myah Smith, Last-Tear Poa, and Aalyah Del Rosario, are expected to bolster the team’s performance as they head into the new season.
In an effort to enhance their backcourt depth, LSU has welcomed four new guards: Shayeann Day-Wilson, Kailyn Gilbert, and Mjracle Sheppard, who all joined the program via the transfer portal, along with freshman Jada Richard. The team also added 6-foot-5 post player Jersey Wolfenbarger, further strengthening their roster for the upcoming campaign.
The LSU Women’s Basketball team blends experienced returners with fresh talent, positioning itself for an exciting season ahead. Fans can look forward to an action-packed exhibition and a promising year on the court.
