Khalsa College for Women and SCD Government College Win Basketball Championships

Khalsa College for Women (KCW), Civil Lines, Ludhiana, successfully defended their title in the girls’ section, while SCD Government College, Ludhiana, emerged victorious in the boys’ category at the Panjab University Inter-College Basketball Championship Division A. The tournament, jointly hosted by KCW and SCD Government College, concluded on Wednesday at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana.

KCW displayed their dominance throughout the competition, winning all three of their league matches to retain the championship they claimed last year. They registered a commanding 68-32 victory over Panjab University (PU) Campus, Chandigarh, followed by a 45-25 triumph against Guru Nanak College, Narangwal. In their final game, KCW comfortably defeated Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, with a score of 65-39, securing the winners’ trophy with an undefeated record.

In the boys’ section, SCD Government College also demonstrated their supremacy, winning all three of their matches. They began with a resounding 96-32 win against Goswami Ganesh Dutta SD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, and then overpowered PU Campus, Chandigarh, 60-32. Their final victory came against Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh, with a score of 84-61, ensuring they remained unbeaten and lifted the championship trophy.

PU Campus, Chandigarh, secured second place in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, while Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, finished third in the girls’ section.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary of the Punjab Basketball Association, was present to distribute the prizes and congratulate the winners on their stellar performances.

Both KCW and SCD Government College showcased exceptional teamwork and skill, proving their mettle in this highly competitive tournament.
