Orb: On the Movements of the Earth Series Finale Preview Released

Preview images for the Orb: On the Movements of the Earth series finale (Episode 25) were revealed on Tuesday. The final episode, titled “?”, will premiere on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Studio MADHOUSE is handling the animation, and the series is streaming worldwide on Netflix.

Final Episode Synopsis

Alberto (voiced by Shouya Ishige) is intrigued when Rafal invites him to an academic salon. However, upon returning home, he witnesses something shocking.

Ken’ichi Shimizu (Parasyte -The Maxim-) is directing the anime, with Shingo Irie (Kuroko’s Basketball) overseeing the series composition. Masanori Shino (Black Lagoon) is responsible for character designs. Other key staff members include:

Manga and Background

The anime is based on Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, a historical mystery manga by Uoto. Weekly Big Comic Spirits serialized it from September 2020 to April 2022. It won multiple awards, including the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and Best Comic at the Seiun Awards.

As of March 2025, the manga has over 5 million copies in circulation, up from 3.5 million before the anime’s release. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English version in omnibus format. The story follows Rafal, a young scholar in 15th-century Europe, who challenges the church’s teachings by discovering that the Earth orbits the Sun—leading him into conflict with the Inquisition.
