Sourav Ganguly has been re-appointed as the Chairman of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee, continuing his key role in shaping the global game. The former India captain originally took over the post in November 2021, succeeding his legendary teammate Anil Kumble. His reappointment was confirmed by the ICC through a social media update, along with other panel members.
Alongside Ganguly, another Indian legend, VVS Laxman, has also been retained on the committee. The respected duo is part of a diverse panel that includes former Afghanistan pacer Hamid Hassan, West Indies legend Desmond Haynes, current South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, and ex-England batter Jonathan Trott. Their combined experience offers a broad and balanced perspective on the game’s evolution and policies.
The ICC Women’s Cricket Committee has also seen updates, with Catherine Campbell, Avril Fahey, and Pholetsi Moseki among its notable members.
Sourav Ganguly, a veteran of 113 Tests and 311 ODIs, retired from international cricket in 2008 after India’s home series against Australia. Known for his aggressive leadership and graceful left-handed batting, Ganguly remains one of India’s greatest captains. His administrative journey began in 2015 when he became President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), a position he held until 2019. He then served as the BCCI President from October 2019 to October 2022, before being succeeded by Roger Binny.
Ganguly’s continued presence in the ICC structure underlines his ongoing influence in world cricket. His experience, combined with the insights of other committee members, is expected to play a key role in driving important decisions in the sport’s future.
