Kane Williamson Joins IPL 2025 in a New Role

Gujarat Titans (GT) released Williamson ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The franchise retained only five players and chose to part ways with Williamson, who was bought for ₹2 crore in the previous season. Due to injuries, Williamson played only three matches for Gujarat Titans. Despite limited appearances in recent seasons, his overall IPL record remains impressive, with 2,128 runs in 79 matches.

Kane Williamson To Feature In PSL 2025

Although Williamson will not play in IPL 2025, he will still be seen in action. Karachi Kings picked him for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, where he will reunite with his former Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate, David Warner. Initially, Williamson went unsold in the platinum category of the PSL 2025 auction. However, Karachi Kings grabbed him in the supplementary round.

PSL and IPL Set To Clash in 2025

For the first time, the PSL and IPL will run concurrently. The 10th edition of PSL is scheduled from April 8 to May 19, while IPL 2025 kicks off on March 22. This scheduling overlap may require Williamson to manage his commitments, potentially causing him to miss some PSL matches. While he won’t be on the field in IPL 2025, fans can still look forward to his expert analysis as part of the commentary team.
