Rohit Sharma confirmed he is not retiring from ODI cricket after leading India to their third Champions Trophy title. Following India’s four-wicket win over New Zealand in the final, he dismissed any speculation about his future.

“I’m not going to retire from this format, just to make sure that no rumours are spread,” Rohit stated in the press conference. When asked about his career plans, he said there was “no future plan” and that ODI cricket would continue as it is. Rohit had earlier retired from T20Is after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
At the post-match presentation, Rohit praised KL Rahul for his composure in a tense chase. Rahul remained unbeaten on 34 off 33 balls in tough batting conditions, admitting he was nervous towards the end. Rohit lauded his ability to handle pressure, highlighting his role in finishing games. He also credited India’s batting depth, stating that having Ravindra Jadeja at No. 8 allowed top-order batters to play aggressively. Rohit himself scored 76 off 83 balls, including a 105-run opening stand with Shubman Gill.
India’s spinners played a crucial role throughout the tournament. Rohit acknowledged the expectations on them, especially on spin-friendly pitches, but praised their consistency. India stuck with four spinners in their last three matches, including Varun Chakravarthy, who was initially not in the main squad. Varun finished as the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker, taking nine wickets in three innings at an economy of 4.53. Rohit highlighted Varun’s unique bowling skills, saying his variations made him a game-changer.
Overall, Rohit credited teamwork for India’s unbeaten run, emphasizing preparation, execution, and adaptability as key factors in their triumph.
