La Liga president Javier Tebas has once again targeted Manchester City, claiming the club has been reported to the European Commission over alleged rule breaches. 📑❗

🕵️ Investigation Underway?

Tebas revealed at the FT Business of Football Summit that the complaint was lodged in 2023 and is now in the “investigation phase” by the European Commission – the executive body of the European Union responsible for enforcing its laws.

📌 What’s the Allegation?
Tebas believes City have a structure that bypasses financial rules, involving companies in the UAE that exist outside the City Football Group (CFG).

🏆 La Liga argues this setup gives City an unfair advantage in both English football and the Champions League.

📊 Tebas’ Accusations

💬 “City have a lot of companies outside the City Football Group where they place their expenses. These companies lose money, but the club itself doesn’t. We have the facts and figures,” Tebas stated.

🔍 He alleges City offloads high costs to external entities, including a scouting company and a marketing company, to artificially reduce their financial burden.

City’s Response

🗣️ Man City have not issued an official statement but club sources strongly deny the allegations.

📑 City’s accounts are publicly available, and sources insist they show no wrongdoing.

⚠️ What Could Happen?

Man City are already facing 115 charges for alleged Premier League financial rule breaches. If found guilty, they could face major penalties, including points deductions or even relegation.

In 2022, La Liga also reported City and PSG to UEFA over suspected “irregular financing”, with Tebas labeling them “state clubs”.
