PCB asks ICC to intervene after Pakistan’s name missing from logo in India vs Bangladesh broadcast

The PCB has sought an explanation from the ICC after Pakistan’s name was missing from the Champions Trophy branding during the live broadcast of the India vs Bangladesh match in Dubai. The logo, displayed in the top left corner, carried the event name “Champions Trophy 2025” but did not mention Pakistan as the host. This omission lasted throughout the match, which India won by six wickets.

This was a noticeable departure from previous broadcasts. During the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi, the logo included both the event name and Pakistan’s name. The same was visible during the Afghanistan vs South Africa match in Karachi. PCB has expressed its frustration over the inconsistency and has sought assurances that such an omission will not happen again.

The ICC has informally conveyed to PCB that the issue was an early technical glitch. However, PCB remains dissatisfied, as broadcasters prepare graphics for live matches well in advance. Since the opening game displayed Pakistan’s name correctly, PCB questions the explanation for its omission during the India vs Bangladesh match.

The ICC reassured PCB that the issue will not happen again, whether games are in Pakistan or the UAE. The upcoming India vs Pakistan match in Dubai is expected to be the tournament’s most anticipated clash.

Hosting rights have been a contentious issue. The ICC awarded Pakistan the entire tournament, but the BCCI refused to send its team there. Both boards agreed on a compromise, ensuring India plays at neutral venues. In return, Pakistan will not travel to India for ICC events over the next three years, with their games also set at neutral venues.
