Napoli’s bid to secure the services of Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has been firmly rejected after the Serie A side made the 20-year-old Argentine winger their primary target. Napoli, looking to fund the move with money raised from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s expected transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, made an initial offer for Garnacho that fell well short of United’s valuation.
The precise details of the bid remain unclear, but reports indicate that Napoli’s offer was around £40 million. While United is open to listening to offers for certain academy products as part of their broader squad rebuild under manager Ruben Amorim, they have no intention of parting ways with Garnacho or England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo at this time.
Ruben Amorim, speaking earlier this week, emphasized Garnacho’s importance to United’s future. “That is clear. He has talent,” Amorim stated. “I think he has changed the way he sees himself and is finding the best way to play in this system. He is improving during training.”
Garnacho, who arrived at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in 2021, has been a regular feature for United, making 117 appearances since his debut in 2022 and scoring 23 goals. This season, he has netted eight times in 31 appearances, but Amorim notably dropped him for December’s Manchester City match at the Etihad, along with teammate Marcus Rashford.
The young forward played the full 90 minutes in United’s recent 3-1 Premier League victory over Southampton, where Amad Diallo’s stunning 12-minute hat-trick secured all three points for the Red Devils. United’s firm stance on Garnacho signals their intent to keep the promising talent at the club, despite interest from abroad.
