The Section VII basketball community has welcomed another member to its exclusive 1,000 career points club, with Moriah High School senior guard Cooper Allen reaching the milestone in impressive fashion.
Allen achieved the feat following a standout performance, scoring 34 points in Moriah’s 69-48 victory over Northeastern Clinton Central High School. This achievement comes as part of an undefeated start for the Vikings in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference play, where they sit at 5-0.
A key returning starter for Moriah, Allen played a crucial role in the team’s successful run to the New York state final four last season, making his 1,000-point milestone all the more significant in the context of the team’s ongoing success.
Allen’s achievement places him among an elite group of athletes in the region, with the most recent addition to this list being Beekmantown’s Payton Parliament, who surpassed 1,000 points earlier in the season during a New York state regional semifinal.
The last Moriah High School player to reach 1,000 career points was Bryce Sprague, who hit the mark in 2022.
As Allen continues his standout career, his name now joins others in the history of Section VII basketball, marking a significant moment for both him and his team.
